The Black Lips: Rock stars still exist

“This was a cultural clashing shit storm,” Black Lips said in regards to being booted from their January 2009 tour of India.

Following some antics at their show in Chennai, the band became worried about being arrested and imprisoned for “homosexual acts” so they fled the city and eventually the country.

The Black Lips have a reputation for crazy live shows that have included vomiting, urination, nudity, band members kissing, Power Wheels races, fireworks, chickens, and flaming guitars.

THE MUSIC: The Atlanta, Georgia garage-rockers are mishmash of blues, rock, doo-wop, country, and punk… with an I don’t give a shit attitude.

Their music sounds familiar: A little bit of Velvet Underground, Early Rolling Stones, even a touch of the Grateful Dead on a mess of blow. Their new album 200 Million Thousand is fuzzed out sex, drugs, and rock’n'roll acid trip with a thicker swagger than their mustaches…. love it.
