Thursday Retrospect Vol 5

So this weeks retrospect is all about beauty. The songs that make you want to disappear into their gorgeousness. Float into a non-existence of music. The place in between dreams and waking up on your birthday. They might not be the most rockin songs, but they will give you chills for sure.  These are the songs that when you hear for the first time, you know something amazing is happening.   My favorite songs are usually songs to listen with headphones while laying in bed and letting my mind wander.  So, if you are inclined (or reclined for that matter (I know…lame joke))  to do that, enjoy.

vespertinemp3: Bjork- Undo

Vespertine- If you can handle Bjork (or even if you can’t) you need this album.  It is single-handedly one of the most epically gorgeous albums of all time.  Bjork worked with Producer Valgeir Sigurðsson and they created an intensely intimate album.  MUST HAVE disc.

kidamp3: Radiohead- How to Disappear Completely

Kid A – Yes, I am posting yet another Kid A track.  I just can’t help myself…it’s just too good.  This is my favorite song of all time.  Unbeatable.  Infinite.  Never-ending.  Transcendental.  Perfect.  That is all I have to say about this song.

softmp3: The Flaming Lips- Feeling Yourself Disintegrate

The Soft Bulletin- I know! I know!  Yet another Flaming Lips song as well.  This is one of the best rock albums of all time and it needs to be heard by all.  Wayne wrote this song to describe what it would feel like at the exact instant of his death.  That last fleeting moment would be like an eternity and would give you time to think back about all and everything.  Sounds flakey, but if death feels like this song sounds…PHWEH!!  It’s gonna be a trip!

stillmp3: My Morning Jacket- Rollin’ Back

It Still Moves – This is easily the best track off of this album.  It has all that My Morning Jacket is.  Jim James belting out pretty lyrics about love with a voice that could fill ten amphitheaters.

personmp3: Panda Bear- Bros

Person Pitch - This track will lull you sleep, make you wanna dance, float in a dark ether, yell at the top of your lungs then make you want to listen to the whole thing again.  Amazing what one little dude and a shit-load of nice electronic equipment can accomplish.
