Thursday Retrospect Vol 6: Radiohead, Air, Battles, Shocking Pinks, Broken Social Scene

After a little bit of work induced hiatus, I’m back folks and I come baring gifts!! I hope things out there in the internet world have been good to you all. This week, I’m sitting here at my “office” and I needed some music to zone out to. These are some of my favorite instrumental tracks to flip on and get some shit done. So, as usual, I hope you enjoy!!
Moon Safari Possibly the most aptly named album of all time. This 1998 release was the first full length album released by Air. Two little french dudes with some equipment and a nice studio make some KILLER music.
Mirrors This was one of the most hyped albums of 2007, and for good reason. Its an amazing debut album and an amazing opening track. (These both coincidentally were debut albums first tracks. Excellent coincidence)
Amnesiac “These guys are so good, that even their B-Sides are better than most of the music out there.” This was a discussion that the SC crew had over a few drinks in Madano’s back yard. This song is proof of that. Johny Greenwood just lays down a heart-breakingly amazing solo, that makes you wonder what hunting a bear would feel like. I think it would be a little more intense than this, but maybe he’s an expert.
Shocking Pinks 2007 Self-titled album which is essentially a remastered merging of the band’s two previous records, Mathematical Warfare and Infinity Land. Haven’t heard those two albums, but this one is really good.
Broken Social Scene- Cranley’s Gonna Make It
Feel Good Lost This album easily goes down as the most relaxing, most calming, insanely smooth album of all time. If you like falling asleep to music, and not because of boredom but because the music is an instant Xanex, then this is your album. Get it. Love it. Zone out to it.
