A small room with modern, yet sparse furnishings, a desk, a basic plastic and metal chair for the patient, and a much larger, padded chair behind the desk. The doctor faces away from the patient, staring at the wall before him, while the patient, a young man with impeccable taste, faces the crowd.
Therapist: Johnny, I’m going to say a word and I want you to respond with the first word or phrase that pops into your head. Ok?
Johnny: OK, Doc, anything to make these waking nightmares stop.
T: Alright, lets begin…House
J: Door
T: Cat
J: Umm…Tinsel
T: Warpaint
J: …Snuggling
T: Interesting…Now Johnny why would you say snuggling?
J: Oh gee Doc, I just love Warpaint. They’re a Los Angeles based quartet that specialize in melodramatic folk pop with a heavy psychedelic influence. Warpaint was also recently signed to Rough Trade Records, home of other big shot indie acts such as Jarvis Cocker, Julian Casablancas, and Monsters of Folk.
T: Monsters you say?
J: Yes and Warpaint also just released their debut ep Exquisite Corpse, while a full length album is expected sometime early in 2010.
Therapist: Yes that’s all well and good, but why the snuggling association?
J: Didn’t you see the picture at the top of the page? They also have half a dozen more cuddling pictures on their Myspace.
T: Interesting.
J: Yes, who would have thought that a band called “Warpaint,” would make such delicate, yet haunting music.
T: Johnny, I don’t think you’re crazy after all.
J: You really think so? I mean do you really Doc?
T: I now pronounce you…HEALED!
J: YAY!!! I’m not crazy
T: And it’s all thanks to Warpaint!!
