Phoenix – 1901 – A Take Away Show from La Blogotheque on Vimeo.

Take Away Shows, the brain child of artist Vincent Moon, are, next to you’re friendly neighborhood Seizure Chicken, my favorite thing on the Internet. They are guerrilla music videos, that are mind-blowingly creative, refreshing and most of all visceral. You know the feeling where a moment and a piece of music define each other, like seeing a street musician at the perfect place and time, Take Away Shows capture that intangible spirit. In the above video Vincent Moon films Phoenix playing 1901, in the intimate yet  public setting of Trocadero Square, literally in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. It’s Christmas time kids, and I had to share something I loved, I narrowed it down to this video, but please, please, please, for your own sake, go look at more. We’re talking, Vampire Weekend, Beirut, Cold War Kids, Yeasayer, Andrew Bird, St Vincent, Bloc Party, and literally on and on. They are a revelation in style and film, not only because of the inherent statement made by filming something intimate to share with the world, but also because, they illuminate the indefinable moment when a bunch of wood, people and a camera, become magic.
