New David Byrne, Fatboy Slim ft. Santigold Mp3
Imelda Marcos was the first lady of the Phillippines from December 1965 until February 1986, she was obsessed with shoes, laundering money, and George Hamilton (that’s true). For some reason David Byrne and Fatboy Slim are making a concept album based on Marcos, a.k.a the “Steel Butterfly”. Here Lies Love comes out on February 23, and features the likes of funk queen Sharon Jones, Tori Amos, Alice Russel, and Cyndi Lauper.
“Please Don’t,” is the first glimpse of what could be the strangest concept album of all time. Santigold channels her inner Gwen Stefani, dropping the names of former dictators and heads of state, over a fairly vapid beat, replete with glitchy drums and oscillating synth lines.
