Inside the studio – The Strokes

I am pretty damn excited about the prospect of a fourth studio album from The Strokes. Since 2006 each member of the band has released a solo album in some form and, after being out there doing one’s own thing for a while, I can really see each member of the band coming back revitalized. While at a bar a couple a months back I went so far as to say if the Strokes get an album out in 2010 (a full decade after Is This It) it would be one of the best this year. The New Yorkers went back in the studio this past week with producer Joe Chiccarelli (The Shins, My Morning Jacket, Beck), who has worked with Wisconsin’s own Cory Chisel, and Fab Moretti has said that things came together immediately and naturally. The Strokes have said via their website, that they will be giving folks a glimpse into the studio and the process of recording this fourth album, by posting informal videos shot in the studio (Avatar Studios in New York). Here is the first one. Couple of things to note, while Fab has also said the basic bones of the tracking was done this week, this appears to be shot prior. Also, Julian Casablancas doesn’t appear to be in studio during the shoot. The Strokes website says this is the first of three or four videos. Like I said, I’m excited.
