Method Man, Raekwon, and Ghostface; feat. OMG OMG

Ghostface, Method Man, and Raekwon
Method Man, Ghostface, and Raekwon – Our Dreams
I can say in confidence that SeizureChicken’s coverage of the upcoming Method Man/Raekwon/Ghostface (there’s no name for the three yet – you can help choose it, though, because Ghostface is crazy!) album Three the Hard Way will be extensive. Lots of crazy divergences. Wu mythology. At some point, there’ll be a Wu Tang depth chart with comprehensive analyses and a book-length justification for putting Inspectah Deck in front of ODB (just kidding! Maybe…). On the RZA’s behalf, Quentin Tarantino will be on my answering machine, going “uhm, eeeuhm, ehhh, uh, um.” I’ll be flooding the Chicken Coop databases with blurry .jpegs of Method Man playing Mario Kart or U-God getting his fingers stuck inside a Chinese fingertrap.
Until then, here’s something with which you can soften your exit from the weekend: the first track from the aforementioned Three the Hard Way. Each emcee kills it in his own special way, but employee-of-the-month honors go to a refreshing verse from Method Man, whose recent lack of public visibility has done nothing to dampen his clinically shit-hot flow. That’s especially interesting because Method Man clearly has the most riding on Three the Hard Way; though it’s a victory lap of sorts for Ghost and Rae, who made the best rap album of 2009 (and there’s also Ghostface’s almost inexplicable critical support, bordering on unanimity), Method Man’s 2009 was composed of an unimpressive reunion with Redman (Blackout! 2) and an October 2009 arrest for income tax violation. It’s safe to say that he’s eager to re-mark his territory; eager to prove that, despite no longer being the platinum-seller/film and television semi-star/central and definitive Wu-Tang member that he once was, he can still tear a beat to shreds at will. “Our Dreams” is a pretty respectable start, and here’s hoping that the rest of the album is as big, bloody, and ridiculous a spectacle as it is in my dreams. Or our dreams. Or “Our Dreams.” Ha!
