Staygold -  Backseat (feat. Damien Adore, Robyn, and Spank Rock)

Staygold – Justify (DJ Mehdi remix)

All the necessary apologies for not jumping on this track a month or two ago, when video footage of the patently absurd Swedish Grammys* surfaced all across the internet’s amber waves of porn. Perhaps you’ve already seen both Fever Ray’s desperate plea for attention and electronica duo Staygold’s performance of “Backseat,” both of which are strange, compelling, and flat-out awesome enough to encourage thoughts of moving to Sweden, were it not for the pesky fascist plutocrat Swedish heads of state. Anyhoodle, “Backseat” might just be the best song ever about backseat on-gettin’** since, oh, I don’t know, Sabbath’s “Iron Man” – do yourself a favor and peep the vibes, which are vintage 80s without being boring like most 80 year-old things. Here’s some awards that this song is probably going to win at next year’s Swedish Grammy propaganda machine:

- Best Use of Spank Rock

- Swedish National “Where’s Robyn?!” Award

- Freddy Mercury Music Prize for Flamboyance in Song

- World’s Greatest Grandpa

** Did you know that, in Sweden, it’s illegal to have sex without a permit? Crazy! Also, did you know that, under penalty of DEATH, it’s illegal to wear more than four socks at once? Unless one of them is black – of course, that goes without saying.
