Guru, the emcee half of seminal rap duo Gang Starr (the other half of which is potentially-greatest-beatsmith-ever-ever DJ Premier), is in a coma after suffering a substantial heart attack this past weekend. He’s set to undergo surgery later today – you can read more here or here; since I’m not much for regurgitating press write-ups, especially when the news is so goddamn sad, here’s a small small sample of Guru’s output with Premier (most of which is equally great). Use them to soundtrack your well-wishings, and here’s to hoping that it takes more than a measly cardiac arrest to silence a legend.
