MP3: Passion Pit-Tonight, Tonight
Levi’s is treating music fans to more than just super tight skinny jeans these days. Like Kia & Adult Swim’s 8 Singles 8 Weeks series, the company that set the blue jean standard is offering it’s own weekly download and they’re calling it the “Levi’s Pioneer Sessions.” For the small price of your name, email, and street address you can download some well chosen covers performed by some even better chosen artists. Earlier sessions featured the Swell Season, She & Him, The Shins, an unreal Bob Dylan cover by Dirty Projectors, and more.
This week, just in time for Milwaukee’s annual 10 day music and beerapalooza, Passion Pit puts a spin on the Smashing Pumpkins “Tonight, Tonight.” It’s simple, swirling, and takes me back to 1997. I wish they would’ve covered “Drown” but then again, I wish everyone would. Tomorrow, amidst exploding fireworks and sparkling young hearts, Passion Pit will play Summerfest’s US Cellular Connection Stage at 10pm. I can’t think of a better way to sweat out overpriced fest beer. Oh, and please click the Levi’s link and give up some info for some really great music you scavengers.
