Mp3′s: Kissed Her Little Sister – High And Low
Lately everything I listen to seems over produced(Bleep Bloop).. or conciously underproduced(Lo Fi)..or well.. just concious of itself. It has an identity and sticks to it that is not bad… but eventually after to listening to almost everything that comes out.. you want to hear something new.. a musical apertif to cleanse the palatte of hipper then tou electro frenchsters, bitingly intelligent New York dissonance, Midwest fuzz and twang and West coast haze. Dont’ get me wrong Muchacholitos!… I heart a ton of stuff from all of that , but a lot of it tends to get derivative after a while.
If I hear another band that could have been a home in 1964… or 1954… or anytime not now(whatever that means)..I might spontaneously combust into skinny jeans, plaid, some high top vans, a snarky attitude about someone’s new 7 inch and red wayfarer sunglasses(is that even bad??). That is why I was blown back by this dude…he apparently doesn’t know what’s “cool” right now and doesn’t care.
Kissed Her Little Sister is a one man Electrofolk( what?) operation out of Sacramento and the thing that makes me love this unsigned hype.. is that it sounds like some recreational chemist in his house… just having a blast. From listening to the Album which is free HERE. Oddly enough the French LOVE him and I do too.
Kissed Her Little Sister is not Mozart but he is unpretentious and fun( Who else uses an Inspector Gadget sample?..on a rad cover of Cocaine nonetheless) and sometimes that is just what the doctor ordered.
