MP3: MENOMENA- TAOS
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that Portland, OR comes in at a close second when it comes to cities that have produced some of my favorite music. Menomena is a HUGE reason. This monster trio has six golden ears that slant towards perfection. Much like the more recent Dirty Projectors, Menomena’s music leaves little to desire as far as fills or empty spaces go. ”Taos”, the second single from their forthcoming record on Barsuk Records, Mines, arrived via Stereogum today. The driving bass lines, explosive drums, psychedelic guitars and ear opening vocals are just enough to shake the sand out of your favorite beach sandals. Loud/Soft. Tough/Delicate. ”Taos” is a fucking onion. Peel and see for yourselves. Oh, and be sure to pick up Mines tuesday July 27th!
