Russ Feingold Funeral Songs
King Crimson – The Great Deceiver
The musical equivalent to a progressive politician is probably a prog-rock band – a lot of crazy, forward-thinking compositional beliefs, a pompous, masturbatory vibe (as is with everything about politics), and massive unseen funds large enough in amount to befit touring the country in a rickety van packed with 15 people delusional enough to think that they’re actually making a difference. In honor of former Senator Russ Feingold’s newly-sacked status and the cardiac relief posed by exile from Washington: “Owner of a Lonely Heart.”
Feeling sorry for politicians is a shit-eating way to feel, but it sucks that, as a state, we’ve swapped a lefty with an ideological streak for the virgin campaign of a climate-change-denying plastics CEO. (Am I being paranoid, or does anybody else see the vested interest in global-warming renunciation for a high-ranking manufacturing CEO? So that’s the explanation for “The Great Deceiver.”) The state seems to think that we’re better off in the hands of an anonymous, conservative cardboard cutout than a lifelong politician – or, at the least, that we’re better off in the hands of anybody than the lifelong politician (and since Johnson has no actual political track record, this seems more likely). Much love to the concept of distrust towards politicians in totality, because, yeah, of course, whatever, but that perspective is disappointing because it suggests that our beliefs are based in knee-jerk stereotypes and bullshit ingroup-outgroup dynamics.
Which is, of course, true.
Which is…of course…disappointing.
In conclusion, democrats are jerks and republicans are assholes. But Feingold? Dammit.

At least Ron Johnson has some experience at SOMETHING! Obama had almost no experience, and no accomplishments and yet this country naively voted him into the White House.
