Dig French Garage Rock, The Feeling Of Love – Dissolve Me
I stumbled onto the recent release from “garage” rockers ,This Feeling of Love, through some sound feed this week via the title track Dissolve Me ..and asap had to go grab the LP. I slapped the garage in quotes because that is kind of what I expected and totally how they are billed, but really they end up reminding me more of like The Kills, The Velvet Underground and Suicide. Not always so much by way of musical mimicry, but the vibe.. like I am going to like this as much and the same way I do now years and years from now. Experiences like this always make me wonder what ELSE am I missing that just never makes it’s way to my ears and always spurs me on to dig in.
The French trio runs the gauntlet of pysched out garage rock on this release punctuated with a noticeably french accent on smart lyrics. Ultimately, I would put it at least on par with Ty Segall’s release this year, if I had to lump things into a catagory. The tipping point either way, I would imagine, is if you dig the psychedelia(organs etc..) and Frenglish vox.
If you asked me, right now..me personally, I like this more then Goodbye Bread‘s (yes I am saying that) cleaned up, slower sound..plus I have a mad music crush on the French cool overall so that doesn’t hurt haha. If you heart these tracks the album will not only be up your alley, but expands farther. Give it a spin and see whats what!
