Poison Control Center – Stranger Ballet

Poison Control Center toured for nearly 200 consecutive days and nights supporting Sad Sour Future, an album they released May 18th of 2010. In the midst of zig-zagging the states the band wrote most of what appears on Stranger Ballet, which was released this past June. The album opens with a bright pluckey guitar riff and 1-2 drum beat and lyric “What’s the difference? you know your day is just shit and piss,” something fondly reminiscent of a 1990′s (the band not decade) track.

Now I can’t remember the last time I’ve committed myself to something for 200+ days. Possibly work – but I’ve had my fair share blank stairs at my computer and the occasional raging urge to sell my kidney’s for just 10 more lottery tickets. Possibly SeizureChicken but we know some times I swing in and out of caring whether it gets updated regularly. Basically, hats off dudes. The reaffirmed cohesion from touring is evident throughout Stranger Ballet. The album is mostly great, with bright spots of Stranger Ballet being really bright.

PCC is in town this Thursday, playing the Bad Genie with Sate Nite Duets and Brighton. (side note: you’ve got about 50-something hours left to help Sat Nite press One Night Only to wax) Go check that out.
