WUWM public radio posted a live recording of Milwaukee’s Conrad Plymouth gripping “I Am Not Waiting Anymore” today. I had the chance to catch the band play a set infront of a packed house this Saturday at the Irish Pub as a part of the Yellow Phone Music Conference. After seeing countless singer-songwriter/folk-esque acts over the past couple of years, it’s easy to see that what set’s Conrad Plymouth apart. It’s the song writing and attention to sonic landscapes – rather then relying so heavily on tired americana algorithms and sweet sounding I love you whiskey choruses. It’s also the undeniable sureness and authenticity in the message(s) Chris Porterfield and the band exude while sweating it out on stage.
“I Am Not Waiting Anymore” is taken from Conrad’s latest EP, Comrade Plymouth. Catch Conrad open for Bobby Long at Turner Hall Ballroom tomorrow night for $10.
