Honeydrum – Pleasures Of The Sun EP
July 14th, 2011Way to go Joisey! New Brunswick’s Honeydrum has put out a gnarly little 6 tracker. Lazy man description is a sunnier Ariel Pink vibe. If you asked me though..what I would tell you is that first.. this is rad syrupy, synthed out pysch pop and secondly Joseph Black’s vocals are a standout. On one hand I am startled I haven’t heard them until now, but on the other hand.. better now then never! I suspect if this keeps up there is a bril LP in Honeydrum’s future. in other news, this is one of the first times I completely agree with the single choices which is a blue moon event haha. This disc gets the coop’s seal of approval check these tracks out and then go bomb through the bandcamp at the link below. This is a limited 50 cassette run so be quick on the draw kids!

Stephen Malkmus And The Jicks – “Tigers”
July 13th, 2011I don’t think it is any secret that we are mega biased Pavement fanboys ( and really who isn’t??) so it is no surprise we are always cluckin’ about Stephen’s solo and w/ Jicks projects. The novelty factor is jacked up on the forthcoming Mirror Traffic due to Cruise and Travolta pally, Beck, making his second major foray into production.
This new ditty, Tigers, is the lead track from the LP and a more polished jam then the first drop Senator. We obvs don’t need to say it , but we are pretty excited to see the complete project. Spin!

New The Tallest Man On Earth -”Weather Of A Killing Kind”
July 13th, 2011Latest and perhaps greatest (depending on your personal taste) in Adult Swim’s Singles dealio is The Tallest Man On Earth’s new cut. Weather Of A Killing Kind is everything we have come to love from the swedish sweetball… Dylan-esque vocals and some acoustic magic! If you want to hear something that is also pretty rad.. dig up live cuts of TTMOE with a full band…not shockingly it sounds tre bien! If I can break the 0110011000′s free from my old pute I will sharensharealike! In the meantime, jangle out to this bad boy!

Hopefully you are digging on our fresh kicks here at the coop! This is what I get for laughing at cloud computing hahaha
Anywho this is some of the stuff to be checking out over the last few dias. Thankfully for the Soundcloud app on my Jobs-o-tron 4, I have been able to have my buds stay fresh and crispy and prevent musical DT’s haha (Sidenote..dear Cargo Records… please stop upping snippets. It drive me nuts. Thank you!!) Other then rocking a broken pute and soundclouding on the move…. I have been blasting a lot of… Steely Dan. Seriously. This mix is going to be a tad larger because there is a lot of ground to cover, but tis chock full of various nuggetry. Dig.

Ghost Wave – Ghost Wave EP
July 7th, 2011Kiwi fourtet Ghost Wave not only dropped one of our favourite songs this year , Hippy (Gabba Gabba hey…this sounds familiar haha), but have a gnarly lil banger of an eponymous EP on their paws. This EP was recently rlsd and even more recently made it to our desk. This band is currently working on getting a full release together which should be the whip.
Ghost Wave, Ghost Wave, is seven songs in the key of awesome. It is shoegazey, garagey, psychey and whatever tag you want to throw on it.This is a tight, cohesive band that can jam. The track Sunsetter might be the best of breed all around , but Hippy kills it two times and I am lately partial to the psyched out driving jangle of On A Breeze ..tough call! Bottom line these lads are mad talented and unless they really bollocks up the LP it should be one of the better things you hear whatever year it sees the light of day. We dropped Hippy upon a mix yesterday go here to..uh hear haha and spin some of Auckland’s finest below!
